The Longest Day 2019: Live Plein-Air Painting to support the Alzheimer’s Association
June 21, 2019; 8 am – 6 pm
Washington Park flower gardens near Downing and Exposition, Denver
My mom, Norma, her two sisters and my grandma have all endured this horrible disease called Alzheimer’s. My mom died 2 years ago and I watched her as she progressed in the disease to the very end. It’s a heartbreaking thing to go through when it’s someone close. It’s something you relive everyday and hope that there is a better future for us all.
So, to commemorate my mom I am hosting a day of plein air painting in areas where my mom enjoyed the natural beauty around her. She appreciated all of our wonderful city parks and made a point to visit them often so what better place for us to plein air paint?
This year we will paint the beauty of Washington Park in Denver. The flower gardens near the parking lot in the park at Downing and Exposition are beautiful in June. The roses are a favorite of mine so you will see me there part of the day for sure. Of course, as plein air landscape painters, we will probably be scattered throughout the park to paint whatever suits our fancy but the majority of us will be near the parking lot mentioned above starting early in the morning to late afternoon.
Come and join me on June 21st for a fun day of plein air painting. You can also come as a spectator and enjoy watching the artists create beautiful paintings on the spot. I and my painting buddies will be auctioning off our paintings thoughout the day at the park and on Facebook Live. Our goal is to raise $5,000 as a team.
If you are not an artist and just wish to donate, please make a donation using the donation button through The Longest Day Website. Any amount to help me reach my goal is so appreciated!!
